Have you ever considered the incredible influence your mindset holds over your life? The power of a positive mindset shapes our reality in profound ways, guiding our actions and perceptions. When we have a thought, we have the power to accept or reject it. We have the choice right then and there to entertain that thought and let it take root, or to not give it a place and throw it out like last week's garbage! In Colossians 3:1-2, Paul reminds us that we are to set our sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand, and to think about the things of heaven, not of earth.
I love being able to take God's Word and clearly align and apply it to my everyday life, so consider this: I heard someone ask this question recently, "What have you done so far in 2024 that has an eternal significance?" Wow! When we consider the question and our answer, and put into perspective all tasks we complete, the things in which we are involved, all the places we spend our precious time, how well then, do we answer the question? The answer can help us shift and keep our focus on eternal things as Colossians reminds us.
Similarly, Philippians 4:8 urges us to "fix our thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." There is a reason Paul reminds us to focus our perspective, and it's not only just because it's good and positive. Being aware and in control of your mind is the first, most powerful, strategic move you can make in spiritual warfare.
Victor or Victim: Which Mindset Will You Choose?
Imagine this: you wake up in the morning, and the first thoughts that enter your mind dictate the tone of your day. If those thoughts are rooted in a victim or defeated mindset, you've already set the stage for failure. If you are allowing and accepting negative thoughts to take root in your mind about yourself or others, you've already lost the battle. Don't let the enemy try to tell you that you're less than what you are.
God's Word says in Romans 8:37 that, "WE are MORE than CONQUERORS through Him who loves us!" And, HE DOES love us!! Adopting a victor mindset empowers you to approach challenges with resilience, viewing obstacles as opportunities for growth rather than roadblocks to success. James 1:2-3 says we are to "Count it all joy when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness". Girl! It's time to clean out and kick out those negative thoughts that have set up camp way too long in our minds! Ready?
