You ever have one of those mornings where you shuffle into the kitchen, ready for that first glorious sip of coffee… only to realize you forgot to set the pot up the night before? There’s no coffee. No caffeine. Just the sinking realization that your brain betrayed you.
Yeah, that’s me today—but not just with coffee.
I sat down to write this blog, feeling all productive, when it hit me: I was supposed to have this done already. Oops. Not running on fumes, exactly—more like running on forgetfulness. My brain has apparently decided to take an extended coffee break.
In my defense, I’ve been in the middle of moving, which means my life has been one long game of "Which Box Is It In?" Need socks? Who knows. The phone charger? Gone forever. The coffee maker? Thank the Lord, I found that one. Our sofa legs? Haven't a clue! But in all the chaos, my blog slipped through the cracks.
And you know what? It happens.
Sometimes, life gets busy, and we forget things—not just blogs, but moments with God, prayer time, reading the Word. Not because we don’t love Him, but because we’re human, and our brains get cluttered like an overpacked moving truck. The good news? God doesn’t hold it against us. Can I get a 'Hallelujah!'
I love how Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT) puts it:
"The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning."
Even on the days when we forget, He remembers. Even when we drop the ball, He holds everything together. And even when our coffee pot—or our schedule—is empty, His mercies are full and overflowing.
So what do you do when the coffee pot is empty (literally or figuratively)?
Laugh about it. Seriously. Life’s too short to stress over every forgotten thing.
Refill what’s missing. Whether that’s coffee, time with God, or sleep (let’s be real), take a moment to reset.
Lean on God’s grace. His mercies are new every morning, which means today is a fresh start—no guilt needed.
Make a list. Because clearly, I need one. LOL! (It's in a box somewhere)
So here I am, no coffee in hand cuz it's too late, blog finally written, and reminding myself that forgetfulness isn’t failure—it’s just a chance to laugh, reset, and keep going.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go find my to-do list… assuming I remember where I put it.
What about you? Ever had a forgetful moment that turned into a lesson? Share it in the comments—I’d love to hear!
Until next week,
